Barbara Smith Photography - Art

Without a camera, I have only two eyes. With a camera, I have a thousand eyes. I began with black and white film then fell in love with color slides. In 2006, I got my first digital camera and fell in love all over again. I enjoy experimenting, making dozens of captures of a subject. The immediate feedback is priceless. Anything hidden from casual view (the intricacies of flowers, the shapes of birds, the mysteries of intimate landscapes) entrances me. Intrigued by unexpected colors and shapes, I love exploring light, shadows, and reflections. Macro photography and merging several of my images in interesting ways are my mainstay. Many times, i go a step further, by creating a number of different colored versions of a photograph and using them to add color and depth to the original. In my career, working for magazine and book publishers, I was involved in the selection of photos for publication, the supervision of photo shoots, and the training of editors in photo quality control. I have also taught digital photography through UW's Continuing Education Dept. and the Lincoln Center in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Currently, I am retired from publishing and living in Plover, Wisconsin. I hope you like my work and will continue to visit my gallery as I post new images. Thank you for your support. Note: As the founder, and acting curator of our global Door County Fine Art & Photography Gallery we are thrilled to have the noted Barbara Smith represented within our beautiful galleries. We are over the moon with her work she has presented to us to help open off our latest gallery - The Door County Signature Series. Thank you and enjoy. Perry
